When searching for premium honda performance superbike exhausts, the Honda VFR800 VTEC RC46 2001-2013 deserves a system that matches its sophisticated engineering and sport-touring pedigree. Our Carbon Can Co Ltd exhaust system has been specifically designed and manufactured to deliver exceptional performance gains, weight savings, and that distinctive exhaust note that transforms your riding experience. This comprehensive exhaust solution represents the perfect balance between build quality, fitment precision, and real-world performance enhancement for one of Honda’s most beloved sport-touring motorcycles.

Why Choose Our Honda Performance Superbike Exhausts for Your VFR800 VTEC

The Honda VFR800 VTEC RC46 is a remarkable motorcycle that introduced Honda’s revolutionary VTEC technology to the middleweight sport-touring segment. Between 2001 and 2013, this model earned a devoted following thanks to its sophisticated V4 engine, comfortable ergonomics, and impressive versatility. However, the standard OEM exhaust system, whilst meeting strict emissions regulations, adds considerable weight and restricts the engine’s true potential. Our aftermarket exhaust system addresses these limitations comprehensively.

This complete exhaust kit includes everything required for professional installation. You receive two precision-engineered stainless steel 304 CNC mandrel bent link pipes that ensure optimal exhaust gas flow without restrictive bends or diameter changes. The mandrel bending process maintains consistent internal diameter throughout each curve, eliminating the flow restrictions common in cheaper crush-bent alternatives. Additionally, the system comes with two stainless steel exhaust straps and two exhaust strap rubbers, ensuring secure mounting with proper vibration isolation to protect both the exhaust and your motorcycle’s subframe.

One of the most significant advantages of our system is its direct compatibility with the standard OEM downpipes. This design philosophy means you can retain your catalytic converters if required for emissions compliance, whilst still enjoying the performance and aesthetic benefits of our high-quality exhaust cans. The straightforward fitment process makes installation accessible to competent home mechanics, though we always recommend professional fitting if you’re uncertain about any aspect of the installation process.

Technical Specifications and Performance Benefits

Our honda performance superbike exhausts utilise premium-grade stainless steel 304 construction throughout all metalwork components. This material choice provides exceptional corrosion resistance, ensuring your investment maintains its appearance and structural integrity regardless of weather conditions or storage environment. Stainless steel 304 offers superior resistance to road salt, moisture, and the thermal cycling that exhausts endure, making it the ideal material for serious motorcyclists who ride year-round.

The performance gains from fitting this exhaust system are immediately noticeable. Weight reduction is significant compared to the standard system, with savings typically exceeding several kilograms. This weight reduction, concentrated at the rear of the motorcycle, positively influences handling characteristics by reducing rotational mass and improving the power-to-weight ratio. Riders consistently report sharper turn-in characteristics and improved agility through technical sections.

Beyond weight savings, the exhaust note transformation is dramatic. The VFR800’s V4 engine produces a unique sound signature, and our exhaust system enhances this character beautifully. You’ll experience a deeper, more purposeful tone under acceleration whilst maintaining reasonable sound levels for everyday riding and long-distance touring. The system has been carefully developed to provide an engaging soundtrack without becoming tiresome on extended journeys or attracting unwanted attention from noise enforcement.

Installation and Fitment Considerations for Honda Performance Superbike Exhausts

The installation process has been simplified through our direct-fit design approach. The exhaust system mounts directly to your existing OEM downpipes using the supplied link pipes, which align precisely with factory mounting points. The included stainless steel straps and rubber mounts secure the exhaust cans to the subframe mounting points, exactly as the original equipment did. This attention to fitment detail ensures proper alignment, eliminates rattling or vibration issues, and provides peace of mind that your exhaust system will perform reliably for many thousands of miles.

We recommend inspecting all exhaust gaskets during installation, as these are wear items that may have deteriorated over time. Fresh gaskets ensure optimal sealing and prevent exhaust leaks that could affect performance or create unwanted noise. Similarly, check the condition of your existing downpipes and hangers, replacing any components showing signs of corrosion or fatigue. For those seeking additional Honda exhaust options, our range includes systems for models such as the Honda XRV750 Africa Twin 90′ – 03′, demonstrating our commitment to supporting Honda’s diverse model range.

Maximising Your VFR800 VTEC Experience

Installing our honda performance superbike exhausts represents just one aspect of optimising your VFR800 VTEC. To fully capitalise on the improved exhaust flow characteristics, consider complementary modifications such as a performance air filter and professional ECU remapping. These synergistic upgrades work together to unlock additional horsepower and torque throughout the rev range, transforming the riding experience whilst maintaining the reliability Honda is renowned for.

Regular maintenance remains essential for longevity. Despite stainless steel’s corrosion resistance, periodic cleaning prevents buildup of road grime and brake dust that can diminish appearance over time. A simple wash with motorcycle-specific cleaning products, followed by thorough drying, keeps your exhaust system looking showroom-fresh. Additionally, inspect mounting hardware periodically, ensuring straps and rubbers remain properly tensioned and show no signs of deterioration.

For those interested in exploring performance exhaust options across different Honda models, we also offer systems for contemporary motorcycles like the Honda NC750 X 2021, showcasing our ongoing development programme and commitment to the Honda enthusiast community.

Understanding Exhaust Technology and Materials

The science behind effective exhaust systems extends beyond simple aesthetics. Mandrel bending, as employed in our link pipe construction, maintains consistent internal diameter throughout each bend. This contrasts sharply with traditional crush bending, where the pipe is squeezed and deformed, creating restrictions that impede exhaust gas flow. These restrictions generate backpressure that forces the engine to work harder expelling combustion gases, reducing power output and throttle response. Our precision mandrel-bent pipes eliminate these compromises entirely.

Stainless steel 304 contains approximately 18% chromium and 8% nickel, creating the passive chromium oxide layer responsible for its corrosion resistance. This composition provides excellent formability for manufacturing whilst delivering the durability required for demanding motorcycle applications. Alternative materials such as titanium offer further weight savings but at significantly higher cost, making stainless steel 304 the optimal choice for riders seeking the best balance of performance, durability, and value.
